About Joe Castro
Over the course of the last 25 years, Joe Castro has established a reputation as one of Melbourne’s leading freelance news and events photographers. His work is featured regularly in some of the country’s leading metropolitan papers and magazines, including The Age, Sunday Age, The Australian, The Financial Review and the Sydney Morning Herald, as well as online on abc.net.au and other popular new portals.
Joe has extensive experience documenting major events, including some of the country’s leading international sporting events such as the Australian Open, F1 Grand Prix, the Commonwealth Games and the Australian Open Golf . In 2005, Joe was selected as part of an elite team of photographers engaged to document the official Queen’s Baton Relay in the lead up to the 2006 Commonwealth Games in Melbourne. The assignment took him across parts of Africa and Asia, and some of his photographs can be seen in the official book publication, Seventy-One Lights.
